Bath Folk Singers presents Folk Songs for the Summer

  • Burdall's Yard Anglo Terrace Bath, England, BA1 5NH United Kingdom (map)

On the 24th of July the Bath Folk Singers will be celebrating the end of the Summer term with a concert of English Folk songs sung in rich harmony.

The Bath Folk Singers are a community choir based in Larkhall, they have performed extensively across Bath and the surrounding area including at the Chippenham Folk Festival where they always impress with their varied, entertaining programmes and their heart felt performances. There will be songs of rural past times, loves lost and found, tales of the sea, and political struggle. Each song is carefully arranged by their director to enhance the story and create a diverse repertoire.

The Folk Singers’ performances are always peppered by tales from their director about the intriguing history of the songs.  He said “The characters who originally sang these folk songs and the people who collected them fascinate me.  I often tell audiences ‘I could talk about this all evening’ and it’s genuinely true.  I resist the temptation but always give a little information about each song and the audience and singers alike find it brings the songs alive and gives them a greater context.  I am always particularly careful to mention the name of the singer from whom the song was collected, it gives a connection to the past which I think people find very powerful.”

There is no entrance charge but a collection will be taken www.bathfolksingers.co.uk
