Viva Vocals is a non-auditioned, female voices community choir from Corsham, directed by John Sandford and accompanied by Michelle Howarth on keyboards. Their strapline is ‘Sing Yourself Happy’ and that is what they strive to achieve at each practice and concert opportunity.
Viva Vocals started off as a funk/soul choir but, in the last couple of years, they have introduced more mainstream popular songs into their repertoire, featuring artists as diverse as Joni Mitchell, Yazoo, Anna Kendrick and Katy Perry. They also perform new songs written and arranged by their Director of Music, John Sandford. Songs are performed mostly to piano accompaniment, but you can also expect to hear the occasional a capella song in tonight’s performance.
2022 was a busy year for the group, singing at a variety of indoor and outdoor events and, in the process, raising money for local charities that are dear to the heart of choir members.
In tonight’s performance, they will be joined by a newly formed Bath based choir led by Matt Finch which currently operates under the name the Monday Singers.
